The Public Information Department's
mission is to convey to all residents as much information as
possible about their municipal government's services, events,
activities, and programs. The department consists of two divisions:
Cable Operations and Print.
The Print Division
publishes a four-page monthly tabloid-size
newsletter,
The Oak Park Report,
which is distributed to all City addresses. It also publishes
and distributes community-wide an Annual Report/Calendar, a Citizen
Participation Guide and a Family City Directory. In addition, the Print Division is responsible for the City's
media relations.
The Public Information Department,
in conjunction with the City Attorney's Office, negotiated Oak
Park's contract with its cable franchisee
Comcast
(formerly Media One) a comprehensive
Franchise
Agreement document which assures resident subscribers
a state-of-the-art programming spectrum and which provides significant
financial support for the municipal communications functions.
