Road Construction: update:

The construction season is nearly upon us!  Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience during another busy season.

The enhancements at the intersection of Nine Mile and Coolidge will be finished in the coming months (early spring). We will also have an asphalt overlay project on 9 Mile from Greenfield to Pinecrest.  We received over $2.35 million in Federal and State grants to perform this project!  This project will replace all the curbs on 9 Mile and provide base repairs and asphalt overlays.  The project is scheduled to begin April 21st and run through October.

We will be completing the 11 Mile and Coolidge intersection, along with construction on 11 Mile from Coolidge to Woodward.  Although most of this work will not be in Oak Park, traffic will still be limited to Westbound only on the portion of 11 Mile from Coolidge to Greenfield.  This work has begun and so far is right on schedule.  Please note that the intersection of 11 Mile and Coolidge will be completely shut down for approximately 3 weeks in late spring/early summer to complete it all at once.  Please watch for orange advance warning signs that will announce more detail on the dates of this closure.

Thank you for your patience during these projects.

Put ICE in your phone!

What if……

  • You're in a car accident rendered unconscious?

  • You're at the mall or work and became incapacitated?

ICE - In Case of Emergency.  It's free and easy and could one day save your life.

Put ICE in your cell phone and make it easier for emergency personnel to contact loved ones in case of an emergency to get your medical history (are you allergic to any drugs, do you have a history of heart disease, do you have a Do Not Resuscitate order, etc.).

Make a new entry with the word "ICE" followed by the name of the person you want called in emergency situations (examples:  ICE-Dave, ICE-Mom).  For more than one contact name use ICE 1-Dave, ICE2-Mom or ICE1, ICE2, etc.). Make sure that person (s) knows your medical history.

Individuals without cell phones should carry an identification care with emergency contacts and medical information in your wallet or purse.
